Youngwoong Jang has been getting around various design and art fields as a product designer, an exhibition planner, and a 3D Artist. He is currently focusing on 3D animation not only as a lighting technical director at Blue Sky Studios, an animation unit of FOX filmed entertainment, but also as an independent film maker in New York. Working primarily in the field of new media arts with 3D, his work explores the conjunction between the organic and the mechanical.


Youngwoong specialized in industrial design and mostly focused on product design during the years 1993-1999. He received several awards from LG, JAD and the Korea ministry of Commerce. While he studied at a college, he worked for the Samsung Motors museum plan in the EDC laboratory. He worked at Time & Space Tech Inc. for museum planning in 2000. At the end of 2000, he changed fields to begin working with the CG industry. He had worked for TV 3D animations, virtual realities and PS2, X-BOX games. While he was working as CG artist in Korea and Japan, he decided to explore more about arts and media in New York. At the end of his study at School of Visual Arts in 2006, Youngwoong Jang meditated on a meaning of life and he created his own Bio-Mechanic world in his first short called “Mirage.” Mirage has won over 25 film festival awards and screening in over 100 film festivals world-wide.
